Transformer Breathers with self-regenerating capability

Brownell Ltd introduces the REACTRANS Transformer Breather. It is self-reactivating, eliminating the need for periodic desiccant replacement. The ReActrans breather is designed for use on both power and distribution transformers.

Transformer breathers eliminate the problems caused by moisture laden air being drawn into electricity transformers during their operation. These problems include a break down of the insulating properties of oil, caused by too higher moisture concentration. Moisture in the oil will then in turn contaminate the insulating paper in the transformer.

REACTRANS has a fully automatic reactivation control function which is managed by a process controller. A twin column drying system ensures that the optimum performance is achieved by the desiccant at all times.

All electricity transformers will have a different operating profile owing to load, duty and location. REACTRANS takes all these variables into account, thus removing any potential uncertainty in the desiccant life of a conventional transformer breather.

Dry gas purging prevents failure caused by high temperature

The Brownell NEPS1000 Advantage is a self contained automatic dry gas purging system. The NEPS1000 has been designed with the needs and requirements of both equipment manufacturers and end users in mind.

Dry gas purging of equipment increases the temperature operating envelope in which equipment can function before there are any noticeable problems which can be attributed to water. These issues can range from condensation, corrosion, right through to mould growth.

The easy to use single connection purging system provides an LCD readout of both pressure and dewpoint. In conjunction with these parameters, it is possible to perform other functions. These include leak testing, gas quality (dewpoint testing) and automatic gas control.

The use of the NEPS1000 Advantage is intended for use in conjunction with desiccation or as a regular service/maintenance function to keep equipment operating under extreme environmental conditions.

Stick Desiccators stop humidity/condensation in tight spaces

Simply screwed into equipment or instruments to provide effective protection against humidity and condensation, Brownell stick desiccators are now available in a wide variety of sizes filled with a choice of silica gel or molecular sieve desiccant.

An ideal problem-solver wherever restricted space or access makes the use of standard desiccator assemblies or bags difficult or impossible, these units use a standard M5 threaded mounting hole. They are supplied with a sealing washer, require only a screwdriver for fixing in place and suit retro-fit or OEM applications.

Such items as optical sighting devices and camera lenses often require protection against humidity and condensation but their size and design prevent the use of conventional desiccators which even may protrude into the optical path.

Silica gel desiccant has high drying efficiency and water vapour capacity in environments of moderate to high humidity and temperatures under 40°C, with the advantage of being reactivated by heating when saturated. The molecular sieve option is particularly effective at creating very dry environments with low dew points and in higher temperature ranges up to 100°C.
